LVMH reports 1% organic growth in Q3 2026 and its Fashion & Leather Goods division declines. For UHNWI clients, the slowdown means better access to rare pieces, more room for dialogue and stronger private services.
Analysis · Luxury market · October 2026
Entry-level luxury is losing steam, ultra luxury is holding firm. Behind LVMH's quarterly figures lies a two-speed market, and for UHNWI clients this is not bad news: it is a shift in the balance of power.
What LVMH's figures really say
On 13 October 2026, LVMH reported third-quarter revenue of €18.5 billion, representing 1% organic growth, after +3% in the second quarter. Over nine months, the group reached €57.1 billion, up 2% organically.
The breakdown matters more than the total. Fashion & Leather Goods fell 5% organically, weighed down in particular by weak Chinese demand, erasing the modest spring rebound. Meanwhile Selective Retailing grew 8%, Watches & Jewelry 6%, Wines & Spirits 6% and Perfumes & Cosmetics 1% (source: LVMH press release, 13 October 2026).
In other words, the aspirational client buying a first bag or belt is slowing down. The very wealthy client buying high jewelry, exceptional pieces and experiences keeps going.
A divide between accessible luxury and ultra luxury
For several years, the major houses raised prices and broadened their client base. The current slowdown hits that broader base first. Houses are responding by refocusing on their best clients: private salons, after-hours appointments, previews, workshops and bespoke services.
1. Better access to rare pieces
When overall demand slows, waiting lists shorten on certain references and boutiques have more latitude to offer pieces usually held back. Not every house or model is concerned, but the conversation opens up, especially with an established relationship and a consistent purchase history.
2. Negotiation is about service, not the price tag
Major houses do not offer discounts in the usual sense. In a calmer market, however, there is more room to discuss everything around the purchase: priority on a special order, personalization, delivery to a residence or hotel, access to a private event, a workshop visit.
3. Stronger private services
Houses are investing in confidential spaces and dedicated teams. You still need to know whom to contact, when, and how to frame a request so it is taken seriously. That is exactly the role of a private concierge.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the luxury market slowing in 2026?
Figures published by LVMH on 13 October 2026 show organic growth of only 1% in the third quarter, with Fashion & Leather Goods down 5%, linked notably to weak Chinese demand. Aspirational clients are slowing more than very wealthy clients.
Does the luxury slowdown make rare pieces easier to obtain?
It can on certain references, as waiting lists ease and boutiques gain latitude. Nothing is automatic: the relationship with the house, purchase history and how the request is presented remain decisive.
Can you negotiate prices with a luxury house?
Major houses generally do not discount. The discussion is about service: order priority, personalization, delivery, private previews. AC PRIVATE does not quote prices or promise discounts.
