For a bespoke gala gown, Paris offers two routes: haute couture, created for a single client, and altering a collection piece. How to choose, when to start and how a private appointment on avenue George V unfolds.
Fashion · Paris · Gala
In short: for a truly bespoke gala gown, go to a Parisian haute couture house, which creates the piece for a single client from a mannequin made to her measurements. Expect several fittings and book as soon as the gala date is known. AC PRIVATE - A List concierge arranges private appointments, including at the Maison Yara Shoemaker on avenue George V.
Bespoke, couture or altered ready-to-wear: what is the difference?
- Haute couture. The gown is designed and built for you alone, by hand, over several fittings. The Maison Yara Shoemaker states that none of its creations is ever repeated.
- Altered collection piece. An existing gown, adjusted to your measurements. Faster, but the design is not unique.
- Personal shopping. For a gala coming up soon, our personal shopping service selects available pieces and arranges boutique fittings.
Where to order your gala gown in Paris?
Parisian couture houses receive by appointment, and the choice depends on your style. Among our partner houses, the Maison Yara Shoemaker has opened its Parisian Maison on avenue George V, moments from the Four Seasons Hotel George V. It was designed as a private salon: each appointment is devoted to a single client. Discover how an appointment arranged by AC PRIVATE - A List concierge unfolds.
How is a couture gown created?
Have a project in mind?
Our experts are ready to create a bespoke experience for you.
Request a confidential consultation- The conversation. According to the house, every creation begins with a conversation about the woman, the occasion and the memories to be made.
- Sketches and mannequin. Silhouettes, fabrics and colours are explored together; a mannequin is made to your measurements.
- The atelier. Corsetry, hand embroidery and finishing: the house states hundreds of hours of work per piece.
- Fittings. Until the final adjustment, in Paris or at home for clients unable to travel.
When should you start?
As soon as the gala date is set. The timeline depends on the design and is decided at the first consultation. If time is too short for a creation, we steer you towards a collection piece or personal shopping.
