Christmas in Alsace

Christmas and Christmas markets in Alsace, orchestratedStrasbourg, Colmar, Wine Route

The Christkindelsmärik in Strasbourg, founded in 1570, is the oldest Christmas market in France. Colmar, Kaysersberg, Riquewihr, Eguisheim: Alsace is home to the most authentic Christmas markets in Europe. We orchestrate a bespoke stay, from private residence to starred dining, taking in the markets, artisan workshops and illuminations.

Our approach

Christmas in Alsace is an atmosphere found nowhere else in Europe: illuminated half-timbered houses, mulled wine with spices, bredele in the shop windows, giant trees on the squares, cathedrals transfigured by projections. The Strasbourg markets (Place Broglie, Place de la Cathédrale, Petite France) and Colmar markets (five markets spread across the old town) welcome several million visitors each year. But the rarest experience is that of the Wine Route villages — Kaysersberg, voted France's favourite village, Riquewihr, Eguisheim, Obernai — where authenticity remains intact.

We are based in Alsace. It is our home territory. We know the artisans, the chefs, the hoteliers and the owners of private residences. We orchestrate every detail of your Christmas stay, so you need only enjoy the magic.

Frequently asked questions

When are the Alsace Christmas markets open?

+

The Strasbourg Christkindelsmärik generally opens in late November and closes on 24 December. Colmar and the Wine Route villages follow a similar calendar, with some markets extended to 30 December.

Do you offer private artisan workshop visits?

+

Yes. We organise private visits to the Meisenthal glassblowers, the Betschdorf and Soufflenheim potters, and the chocolatiers and pastry makers of Strasbourg and Colmar.

Which village do you recommend first?

+

Kaysersberg is the favourite of most of our clients: half-timbered houses, river, overhanging castle, intimate Christmas market. Riquewihr and Eguisheim are also unmissable. We compose an itinerary based on your priorities.

Do you organise Alsace wine tastings during the stay?

+

Yes. We organise private tastings with winemakers on the Wine Route, from Grand Cru Riesling to late harvest and sélection de grains nobles, with transfer and driver.

Can a venue be privatised for a Christmas evening?

+

Yes. Vaulted cellar, historic winstub, private salon of a palace hotel or chapel: we organise privatisations for intimate or festive Christmas evenings.

What are the access routes to Strasbourg?

+

Strasbourg is accessible via Strasbourg-Entzheim airport (15 min from the city centre), the TGV station (Paris in 1h46, Basel in 1h20) and Basel-Mulhouse airport (1h15 drive). We also coordinate private aviation arrivals.
